Random Tidbits

Last weekend, my cousin came for a visit. She lives in Tennessee, so it isn't often that I get to see her. I took her over to my sister's house for a homemade spaghetti dinner and we spent hours catching up and ended the night with my sister giving us each a haircut. Even though she is over a decade older than me, we seem to have a lot in common to talk about. 

I have decided that I can get along with almost anyone. I was just thinking about it, and most of my friend groups are very different from one another, but I enjoy spending time with all of them. People are so different, but so alike at the same time...I don't know how to explain it. I love talking to people of various ages and backgrounds. I enjoy a conversation with a 1st grader just as much as I do a 75 year old. People are just cool!

This week, I have been riding a different bus in the morning than the one I usually ride. I have enjoyed this, because the route is quite a bit shorter, so I don't have to get up as early or stay out as late. I have been sleeping a lot more lately than I probably should, but I blame the cold weather. When it is gross outside, lounging on the couch in my pajamas is really the only thing I want to do. I have been wanting to do something crafty, but can't find the motivation to start a big project, so I bought a coloring book and colored a picture of a lobster instead! Haha...random, I know. I used to love coloring when I was younger and had no less than 30 coloring books. Although it may be a bit childish, coloring is great for relieving stress. When you are focused on staying inside the lines and which color the lobster's tail should be, it becomes easier to forget about what's bothering you.

DIY Necklace & the Rock Quarry

Here goes with an update on some activities I've been getting into: 

Tennessee... I went to visit brother in Tennessee last Thursday through Saturday. Originally we were planning on going to a place called The Beach and some natural waterfalls in Tn. We changed our plans, though, when we heard it was supposed to rain. Instead, we went somewhere closer to their home (in case it started raining). It was a beautiful rock quarry.

The water was a beautiful greenish blue looking down at it and it was very clear and cool in the water. Poppy, my niece, really enjoyed the water once she got used to it. Most of my family loves water..I am pretty sure she will too!

Crafting.. I was attempting to weed out some of the jewelry I don't ever wear and I found a long necklace chain without any charm on it. It reminded me of a necklace I had been wanting to make but I thought I didn't have all the materials for. (Of course this craft was found on Pinterest.)

What I used for to make this necklace: 

Jewelry (small) pliers, scissors, paint chips, necklace chain & a needle

What I ended up doing with the necklace chain I found was shortening the chain and using the links in the excess chain to attach the paint chips cut into triangles. Otherwise, I followed the directions of this blogger: Sincerely, Kinsey I was quite pleased with the final product! :)

The Great Smoky Mountains

I took a lovely trip with the beau's family to Pigeon Forge this past weekend. We had such a good time! I thought I would share a couple of the highlights. Note: I know I share what I eat alot, but I find that food is something good to be shared. So let me start with some of our meals...

It's a tradition for his family to eat breakfast at a restaurant called The Log Cabin Pancake House. We ate there Sunday and Monday morning and it was delicious. And I love breakfast food in general, so I really enjoyed this restaurant.

On the way out we stopped at Bass Pro Shops which is one of Jason's favorite stores. If you've never been into Bass Pro Shops, it's a HUGE store. They have two floors, a restaurant and gigantic fish tanks with a large variety of exotic fish in them. They carry pretty much any hunting or fishing gear you could ever want as well as clothing and other things. I have to agree with the beau, it's a really cool store.
We ate lunch there and I got to try alligator! It also came with a 'gator sauce' (the green one pictured below) made from cream cheese, jalapeno jelly, and half & half. The whole lunch was yummy.

The beau and I also went on a balloon ride. I'd never done this before and thought it was really neat! It didn't seem like it was going to be that high up at first, but once you got up there, it felt REALLY high. The view was really nice but we only got to stay at the very top for 3 minutes. So we snapped a few photos and enjoyed the view while we could!

Lastly, we went to some outlet stores while in Pigeon Forge. One of the items I got that I was particularly excited about and I think some of my friends already own, is a denim button-up shirt. I saw it at Old Navy and my beau treated me to it since I liked it so well. I'd already pinned some ideas on Pinterest of different ways to wear it and I thought I'd link it to you all too. Here is one link to another blog with several different ideas for a denim button-up and there are many more online. I'm ready to try some of them out!
