It's difficult to choose a favorite of anything for me. Choosing my favorite Christmas song is no exception. I have been pondering this prompt all day and I finally decided on one Christmas song I really enjoy. Christmas Shoes, always brings a tear to my eye. It is such a sweet song and it really speaks to the true meaning of Christmas and importance of our love for one another. If you want to feel something, listen to this...
I helped put up the tree today and put lights on it. I'll share a photo of our Christmas tree with the first step of decorating on it. This is relevant today, I promise, because I listened to my Pandora Christmas station while I was stringing the lights!
The red lights cast a funny color on my face but I still think light photos are neat
It needs trimmed...the branches are a little wild at the top!!
Today I took a photo of some cute Christmas decorations at someone's yard in Berea. They have all Santa's reindeer strung with lights and a wreath in each window. I didn't get the best photo of the house but it was cute.
I have been looking for a Christmas tree and I went to the Habitat Restore today to see if someone donated one. They had a cute, small to medium one for $15 and it was even pre-lit. It makes me happy. I put some lights around the window last week because I thought it was cute and I think it frames the tree nicely. Now I just have to put some ornaments up and find a tree skirt!
You've already seen my Christmas tree lights. The only other Christmas lights in my house are the ones I impulse bought yesterday. I hung them over my sink. They are so bright that it looks like the apartment is completely lit from the outside. And they make me happy because I love white lights.
Reading all of your other posts have made me realize I haven't stopped to look at very many Christmas lights. I've already started letting the busyness of this season take over my heart. Right now I realize I need to slow down and breathe. I make a promise that one day this week I will go looking at Christmas lights.
In the meantime, I'm enjoying the words of this song by Jonny Diaz entitled Breathe.
Alarm clock screaming bare feet hit the floor It’s off to the races everybody out the door I’m feeling like I’m falling behind, it’s a crazy life Ninety miles an hour going fast as I can Trying to push a little harder trying to get the upper hand So much to do in so little time, it’s a crazy life It’s ready, set, go it’s another wild day When the stress is on the rise in my heart I feel you say just
Breathe, just breathe Come and rest at my feet And be, just be Chaos calls but all you really need Is to just breathe
Third cup of joe just to get me through the day Want to make the most of time but I feel it slip away I wonder if there’s something more to this crazy life I’m busy, busy, busy, and it’s no surprise to see That I only have time for me, me, me There’s gotta be something more to this crazy life I’m hanging on tight to another wild day When it starts to fall apart in my heart I hear you say just
Breathe, just breathe Come and rest at my feet And be, just be Chaos calls but all you really need
Is to take it in fill your lungs The peace of God that overcomes Just breathe So let your weary spirit rest Lay down what’s good and find what’s best Just breathe
To get this photo, Lucas and I went exploring. We drove to several neighborhoods around the city. There were a few homes that were elaborately decorated (like the one below) but for the most part, lights were hung around around the door or railing and that was as far as the outside decorations went.
Below are a few photos that I have taken of the beautiful Christmas lights in Lexington this year. Please excuse the poor quality...my cell doesn't take good photos as it is, let alone when I am taking them from a moving car.
My family has never done much in the way of decorating outdoors for Christmas, so I always have enjoyed driving around and looking at everyone else's lights. I feel kinda cooped up indoors once the weather is cold, but the lights are a good incentive to go out (especially when it gets dark so early now).
So I officially moved into my final dorm room yesterday. Cathy helped a lot which was great. Something that came to mind though as I was trying to sort through things was, how come all dorm rooms here are the same ugly brownish color? I think dorm rooms should be happy colorful places so I've added some special touches to my room. You can admire my beautiful organization as you look through the pictures I am attaching.
I am looking forward to this last semester at school. Only 17 weeks until I graduate! I think it will be a good semester, sad though because all of you have already left me behind but good times shall come. Well I better get back to writing my term paper. Until next time captain something fun signing off.
