Day 16

It's difficult to choose a favorite of anything for me. Choosing my favorite Christmas song is no exception. I have been pondering this prompt all day and I finally decided on one Christmas song I really enjoy. Christmas Shoes, always brings a tear to my eye. It is such a sweet song and it really speaks to the true meaning of Christmas and importance of our love for one another. I helped put up the tree today and put lights on it. I'll share a photo of our Christmas tree with the first step of decorating on it. This is relevant today, I promise, because I listened to my Pandora Christmas station while I was stringing the lights!

The red lights cast a funny color on my face but I still think light photos are neat

It needs trimmed...the branches are a little wild at the top!!

Day 15

Decorations...Soon my parent's house will be decorated. As I mentioned in a previous post, it is tradition for my dad and I to out looking for a cedar tree to cut down and bring it home. We got the tree today but we weren't able to put it up and decorate it yet. Funny part about our tree cutting, we found a new place down the road with cedars about the right size for the family room. We don't actually have permission to find a tree off this particular property, but who really cares if they're missing a cedar tree, right? They're dime a dozen around here!
I'll share photos of it decorated later, but I'll go ahead and show you a photo of it after it after it was removed from the field, and a photo of the place we took it from. Is my family the only one that decorates and puts up our tree mid-December?

Every Holiday season for the past five years I have gotten to marvel at the beautiful Christmas trees located in front of the town square. This year marks the first in which there is only one tree. Day 3: Christmas tree

Y'all, our tree is oldschool! My dad found it in my great-great aunt's basement unopened. It came from the Dollar Tree in the 1960s for a whooping two dollars. Look on Ebay and you'll find them going from around $120 now. It may not be a traditional tree but I love it! The tree skirt is also an older piece. I found it in my grandfather's attic a few years ago and had to have it. I guess I'm sentimental but I enjoy imagining the life and history of old objects, especially ones that come from family.

On another Christmas-related note, I wanted to share this outrageous version of Jingle Bells I discovered the other day. Barbara Streisand was almost certainly on some very powerful medications when she decided to release this. Enjoy?

Day 3: Christmas Tree

I have yet to put out Christmas decorations at my house (I plan on doing that this evening after work). However, we did do a little bit of decorating in our office. This is the tiny Christmas tree that sits in our windowsill. It looks kind of sad because there are no lights or ornaments on it, but I kind of like it that way. I think it's cute.

A Little Better Than A Charlie Brown Christmas Tree

I must say I'm really enjoying all of these posts. They're short and predictable, but it gives me a little insight into each of my friend's lives.

Day Three: A Christmas Tree.

Growing up, my family stopped putting up a Christmas tree at home because we always went to my Grandy's for Christmas and there just wasn't much room in my house. Now before everyone starts saying, "bah humbug", we did pull out a mini tree, pre-decorated, and set it in the living room. When I got my own apartment and it started hitting December, I was torn. Do I get a big tree? The thought definitely crossed my mind. I have 10 foot ceilings mind you. I could go gigantic. But then I thought about it more and the practical side of me kicked it. Where would I store such a monstrosity after Christmas. So I opted for a small tree, which came with lights already on it. I think it's almost perfect. Yeah, it looks a bit ragged and could use some better fluffing and decorations, but it's mine. I've even started putting all of the presents on the floor around it.
