Meeting the Parents. AKA: My Trip to Maine

As you may already know, I went on a vacation over the Holidays. I apologize for missing several of the daily photo updates for December towards the end. I discovered that it became increasingly difficult to write on the blog without a computer and/or internet connection! That being said, I have a few interesting things to write about this upcoming month, so bear with me!

So where did I go on my vacation, you ask? I went to Maine! Jeff wanted to take me back to where he grew up so that I could see where he lived and meet his family. I had never been that far up north before, so I was excited to see a new part of the country. It was approximately a 15 hour drive, but it took us two days to get there and two days to get back. We decided early on that we were going to take our time so that we did not exhaust ourselves or feel rushed (it was supposed to be a vacation after all!).
We made it!

I didn't do a whole lot of sightseeing because we were visiting family members most of the time (who were all really nice by the way). However, I did get to eat scallops, taste blueberry beer, and ate my very first whoopie pie! I also did some shopping at L.L. Bean and made a snowman while it was 50 degrees & raining back in KY! On our way back, I got to go to the beach, which is the only place I said I absolutely wanted to go. I've been to the beach several times before, but this was the first time going to the beach when there was snow covering the sand! It was also my first time hunting for shells at midnight!
Our very first snowman together! Haha

Isn't he cute?

As you can imagine, I had many hours to be bored in the car. We sang karaoke and took silly photos. I colored in my new adult coloring book that I got for Christmas and did whatever I could think of to pass the time.
We spent so much time together over the trip, we are now starting to resemble one another! LOL

I believe this trip brought us closer together, and I am very glad that I went. I'm also very thankful that I was able to be off work for a week with my "new" job!

I know I'm a little late in asking this, but how was everyone else's holiday? What was your New Years' Resolution (and are you still sticking to it)?
Until next time,

Miss Ellaneous

Day 22: Snowman Cookies

I decided this morning that I wanted cookies of the warm soft yummy variety. So I made some and took a couple of pictures. And of course I ate a few.

Days 18 & 20: Happenstance

Just earlier this afternoon I was wondering where in the world I might find a snowman to take a photo of! I went to a Christmas dinner with my beau (on his side of the family), and one of his younger cousins had made everyone little snowmen! It's funny how these things have a nice way of showing up when I need to see them. I tried to get my beau's kitty, Sissy, to get in the photo of the snowman. It didn't work perfectly so I included a closeup of just the snowman too.

Also, as promised, I finally hung the stockings I purchased not long ago from my workplace and got a phot of them. I thought they were too cute and when they went on sale I really couldn't resist. After the sale and my employee discount I think they ended up costing about $5 each. Plus, since my beau is into wildlife I thought he'd like them too. That's his mantle I hung them over (he really needed some Christmas decorations!)

Day 20: Some people are worth melting for

When I first looked at the list of pictures we are supposed to be capturing for this photo challenge and saw that a snowman was on there before Christmas day, I thought no way would I be able to get a picture of a snowman because it hardly ever snows before Christmas here. But then I thought about it a little more and realized I already have a snowman. Olaf! He is so cute and funny and in my opinion the movie Frozen would not have been any good without him in it. So for today's picture I've captured some of my Olaf collection, which has grown quite a bit thanks to Martha S. And I would just like to say, I like warm hugs :)
I'm also including a link to a YouTube video of all the Olaf moments combined into one.

Day 20: Snowman

Weather has been weird so there haven't been any real snowmen lately, but I still built a snowman for this day. Isn't it cute?

Okay it's a little creepy, but ya'll should be used to my weird ideas by now.

In other news, at least it did flurry on Friday.

My car was not even running yet. No worries.

Snow Cream and other fun things

It is Wednesday. I didn't have class today for the third day in a row, which has been surprisingly not cool. I miss class and work and people and sunshine. The first snow day of my college career I was feeling a bit more optimistic about the whole not having class and work thing but now it's just getting old. I have had ample amounts of time to study though which has proven to be a good thing. Hopefully my exam score will further prove that. I made snow cream for the first time ever on Monday night it was yummy! I put chocolate milk powder in it and it was like eating a chocolate frosty from Wendy's. You all should try it sometime. Monday's adventures were hard because of all the snow and it just kept coming down. But yesterday was better. The snow was pact down really well and nice and slick so sledding was super awesome. Mr. President had sleds lying on his back patio that were free to use for students as long as we returned them back. It was very thoughtful of him. Something I have yet to do in this snow is build a snow man. Maybe tomorrow morning that can be a goal. And clean my room. Not having a roommate has not been good for my cleaning habits. In other news the CDL opened back up today. It was good to see my little friends even though most of them were home with their parents steal do to this weather. I shoveled snow with a child size shovel and a small broom today while at work. The broom seemed to do a lot better than the shovel. So now for some pictures of the great outdoors of Berea College.
